Kelly Ripa Reveals the Butt Treatment She Got During ‘Desperate Times’

It’s a common procedure—just not for this body part.

Kelly Ripa is sharing her story about enduring a popular anti-aging treatment in a not-so-popular place.

“Oh, wait, you got microneedling?” the TV personality asked White Lotus actor Lukas Gage during Wednesday’s episode of her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera. “I did that on my a-- cheeks.”

The 55-year-old Ripa is best known for co-hosting the morning show Live! for nearly three decades, a role she currently shares with her husband, Mark Consuelos. Given her long career in the spotlight, Ripa has experimented with various beauty treatments over the years.

With experience comes age, and, according to Ripa, it’s pushed her toward more drastic treatments than the usual exfoliating scrub.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” she told Gage while describing her backside anti-aging efforts.

Microneedling is a procedure in which a provider uses thin needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, stimulating the healing process by promoting collagen and elastin production, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

While the unique technique appealed to her, Ripa found the results did not meet her expectations.

“I’m going to tell you something, just as old as before,” Ripa said when Gage, 30, asked about the treatment’s effectiveness.

Microneedling providers who offer services for the buttocks say the treatment can target stretch marks, cellulite, and sagging skin, which often occur as people age.

Gage spoke favorably about the procedure later in the episode, calling it the “only” thing that works for his face, to which Ripa interjected that it’s not similarly applicable to the “rear end.”

Clearly, though, husband Mark is perfectly happy with the TV personality’s butt as-is, as shown in multiple snapshots of the couple’s beach trips from her Instagram.

Ripa is an open book about the beauty procedures that keep her looking young. The key takeaway: while butt microneedling did not work for her, Ripa continues to endorse other cosmetic treatments, such as plastic surgery and Botox.

“It’s full plastic surgery. And my plastic surgeon, he would tell you the same thing. Never put filler in your face,” Ripa recommended to Gage. “You can rehang curtains…you can’t fill up your curtains.”

She has previously spoken about her love of Botox injections on Live With Kelly and Mark.

“I’m a minimalist…I do the crow’s feet,“ she said, referring to the outer-eye area. ”And I do the neck, and that’s it. I do it now three times a year.”
