Lee, 55, appeared on Fox Business’ Kudlow Thursday evening and commended Trump’s hosting of Xi, but his bizarre attempt at praise didn’t paint the president in the best light.

“One of the many things I love about President Trump is that he is the consummate host—he loves hosting people,” the MAGA senator said. “When a foreign dignitary, whether from China or anywhere else, comes into town, he likes to show them around. He likes to show them the White House.”

An investor who got duped by Elizabeth Holmes has cried foul over her impending release from prison.

The founder of Theranos, the failed healthcare company that touted a supposed breakthrough in blood testing, is scheduled to move from a minimum-security federal prison to a halfway house next year.

Alan Eisenman, a retired financial planner from Texas and early Theranos investor, said the Justice Department notified him of Holmes’ expected release. The agency is legally required to inform victims of developments in cases.

The Department of Homeland Security wants a custom-made apparatus for ICE trainees to rehearse the smash-and-grab tactics that have repeatedly led to lawsuits. The agency is planning to spend around $80,000 on a 20-foot “breach box” for its Homeland Security Investigations Academy, according to a report by the Daily Beast’s sister Substack, PunchUp. The training unit resembles a retrofitted steel shipping container that allows rookie federal agents to practice break-ins. It comes with windows reinforced with steel rods, walls that can be kitted out with sheetrock, and reinforced sections designed to practice cutting through barriers. ICE intends to award the deal to Virginia-based Rapid Assault Tools (RAT), which markets its model specifically for “realistic residential and commercial breaching scenarios.” The planned purchase comes amid mounting legal challenges over the department’s use of force to enter private residences under the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. In some cases, those raids have targeted the homes of U.S. citizens, prompting a flurry of lawsuits. PunchUp contacted DHS and RAT for comment. Neither responded.

David Flippo, the Republican nominee for Nevada’s second congressional district, had repeatedly falsely publicized that he had received a Bronze Star “for valor” during his 24-year Air Force career, according to The Washington Post.

Flippo, 64, received a Bronze Star for his service as a maintenance and logistics officer in 2004, but not “with valor”—an important and much rarer distinction that honors heroism in an active combat zone.

X-Men star Tyler Mane is sharing an unexpected complication that he experienced while undergoing treatment for a rare form of breast cancer.

The 59-year-old Canadian actor, who played the supervillain Sabretooth in X-Men in 2000 and reprised the role in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, said he’d gone through four rounds of chemotherapy when his doctors discovered a new issue.

“They found the blood clot after I rang the bell,” Mane told Us in a Sept. 22 interview ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. “But we’re dealing with it. I’m on blood thinners for that now.”

A Trump-endorsed Republican candidate for governor has barred a reporter from a campaign event just after the president tried to do the same with the national press. Tom Tiffany, who’s running for governor in Wisconsin, barred a reporter from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wisconsin’s paper of record. The measure follows President Trump’s ban on CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House, a move that a federal judge has since temporarily blocked, restoring the outlets’ access. Tiffany had previously said he would allow all reporters to cover him, even those from the Journal-Sentinel, which he described as “slanted.” But on Thursday, Tiffany’s campaign said it had banned Mary Spicuzza from an event in Milwaukee after determining her reporting was not “balanced” due to “multiple negative headlines” about the campaign. “Liberal activist [Spicuzza] was notified yesterday that she would not be permitted to attend,” the Tiffany campaign wrote on X. “[The Journal-Sentinel] has a photographer at the event, and we welcome all balanced journalists across Wisconsin, including [Journal-Sentinel reporter Jessie Opoien]. That’s why WISN, CBS 58, and other outlets are in attendance.”

Chelsea Handler unleashed on Mitch McConnell’s “return” to public life during her appearance on The View, declaring the 84-year-old Kentucky senator is “possibly not even alive,” despite his latest appearances.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko is taking a leave of absence from the team to be with his family after his father was killed in a bear attack. Alexander Kuzmenko, 62, was on a fishing trip with a group of people in southern Siberia when a bear emerged from the forest and attacked him, mauling his head and face. The group was in a remote area that Russian officials had previously restricted because of increased bear activity. Kuzmenko had to be transported by boat along the Krasnaya River for four hours until he could receive medical attention. He was flown to a hospital, where he died later that day. Kuzmenko was a longtime Russian hockey coach. “The Pittsburgh Penguins organization was deeply saddened, this morning, to learn of the passing of Andri Kuzmenko’s father, Alexander,” Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas said in a statement. “Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with the Kuzmenko family and their loved ones as they grieve the loss of Alexander.

U2 is finally releasing a new album after a nine-year gap, and the final track is a collaboration with Dolly Parton—her last recorded vocals before her death in August. The 12-song album Carnaval De Luz is set for release on November 2, “exploring themes of spirituality, friendship, freedom and endurance in the face of dark, encroaching forces,” according to a Thursday press release. The Parton song, which the release said “has sadly turned out to be her last recorded vocal performance,” is titled “Torn.” She co-wrote it with U2 and songwriter Johnny McDaid as a “tender country song detailing broken family ties,” the release said. While U2 has taken a hiatus from releasing full albums, the band did release two EPs this year themed after Easter and Ash Wednesday. Those songs don’t overlap with the new album, so the band will have released 24 songs in a year by this November amid its 50th anniversary. “Roll up!… Bring your purple socks, your broken hearts, your rose-tinted naivety… oh be amazed in the hall of mirrors. There will be loud guitars, deep bass, some ecstatic rhythms, and, yes, some silver tears will make an appearance,” Bono said in a statement.

According to TMZ, the California Department of Health Care Services has no record of Resolutions Living, the “luxury” rehab Gerber moved into on Saturday, operating as a licensed substance-use disorder residential treatment facility. The news comes after the 27-year-old model reportedly made several attempts to abstain from substance use before his untimely death.

He was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, just about 12 hours after checking into the home. He reportedly died of cardiac arrest and a possible overdose.

A man who was shot at the Butler Trump rally in July 2024 has died, according to a reporter. Jim Copenhaver, 76, lived with lasting injuries from the shooting, including bullet fragments still lodged in his body, according to Ken Silva, author of the book The Trump Assassination Plots: What the Investigations Missed, and Why It Matters. “I don’t have many details at this point, but it’s no secret that Jim was dealing with permanent injuries from Butler—including having bullet fragments still inside of him,” he wrote on X. House Republicans also confirmed his death on X. No cause of death has been released. Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old attempted assassin, shot at Trump with an assault rifle from a nearby rooftop, grazing his ear with a bullet. He fatally shot one audience member and seriously injured two, including Copenhaver. A Secret Service sniper killed Crooks at the scene. In June, Copenhaver filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, claiming that the Secret Service’s negligence led to him being shot at the Butler rally. According to the lawsuit, Copenhaver was required to undergo multiple surgeries, including closure of a traumatic abdominal wall hernia, laparotomy, laceration repair and transection of his colon. “After raising a family and working for over 30 years—playing in a band on the side—I started to wonder: How will I be remembered? Well, I got my answer to that question on July 13, 2024, though taking a bullet meant for the President wasn’t exactly what I had in mind,” Copenhaver wrote in the foreword of Silva’s book.

The first noticed 14 empty beehives, each containing about 15,000 bees, at this property in North Queensland on Sept. 10. Over the next two days, another 27 empty hives turned up at a separate property. The brood nests, where the queen lays her eggs and the young bees develop, had been gutted, and the hives were put back together, making it look from a distance like they were still intact. Police suspect the perpetrator, who used special equipment, is an experienced beekeeper involved in some type of commercial activity. The thefts resulted in tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of lost property and pollination income. Beekeeper Jack Laughton told ABC News he was “completely gutted because the amount of work that goes in preparing beehives to a good quality, to a high standard, is quite a lot of work.” He said it was a “shock” to open a hive expecting it to be full of healthy bees, and instead it’s empty.

Kai Trump, a 19-year-old freshman student-athlete at the University of Miami, said she reinjured her wrist and will need further treatment. She had previously injured her wrist last year and required surgery to fix that injury.

Dee Brock, who led the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to become the NFL’s premier cheerleading squad, has died at age 96. “In loving memory of Dee Brock, our founding director,” the team said in a statement. “We will forever honor her and her legacy.” Brock was the original director who first “utilized high school students with traditional cheers to lead the crowd” when the squad formed in 1961. Under Brock, the team adopted its iconic uniform that has stood the test of time—boots, short shorts and a fringed cropped top. The 96-year-old is also credited with helping integrate the cheerleading squad. “The kindness that she showed, the encouragement, the warmth to a 16-year-old high school girl, it’s amazing what encouraging words, what kindness can do.” said Eunice Cicero, an original member of the 1965 squad. “Thanks to Dee, I had the pleasure of being one of the first African American cheerleaders for the Dallas Cowboys.”

A Jet2 passenger tried to start a fight and open a door midflight, prompting the pilots to turn back to the departure airport. The original itinerary was Edinburgh to Larnaca, Cyprus, but the 32-year-old passenger became disruptive at about 3:30 p.m.—just 30 minutes into the flight. The plane landed just 53 minutes after takeoff and was met with officers and fire crews. The man allegedly started kicking and punching another passenger and redirected his abuse onto the cabin crew, who were trying to de-escalate the situation. He then tried to open the aircraft door after it landed while it was still moving on the taxiway. Another passenger told The Sun he was “a drunk, aggressive passenger” and the landing was “very bumpy.” The man was arrested upon arrival and charged with multiple offenses, including assault and endangering an aircraft, which are criminal offenses under national law. He’s due at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday. “As a family-friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive passenger behavior,” a Jet2 spokesperson said. “We will not hesitate to take appropriate action… and we will seek to recover the costs incurred as a result of their behavior,” Scottish police responded.

A military training jet plunged into the Pacific after its pilot issued a frantic Mayday call reporting a total engine failure. “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! I have lost thrust in my engine,” the pilot told an air traffic controller shortly before the single-seat Hawker Hunter crashed about six miles northwest of Morro Bay on Tuesday evening. The pilot ejected before the Cold War-era fighter hit the water. A U.S. Navy search-and-rescue helicopter located him around 7:30 p.m. and took him to a hospital in Fresno. The aircraft, operated by private contractor Airborne Tactical Advantage Co. (ATAC), was conducting training exercises for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Authorities have not recovered the wreckage of the British-designed craft affectionately nicknamed “Miss Demeanour” by airshow crowds, and they are checking for possible debris or fuel pollution. “It was already really dark at that point,” Coast Guard Southwest District spokesperson Kenneth Weise told the Los Angeles Times. “They ended up returning to base sometime after the person had already been rescued.”

A reboot of the hit series Glee appears to be one step closer to becoming reality. Co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Tonight that he and fellow writers Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan “just finished the script.” “I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members, and it’s very sweet,” he said. “They’ve all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.” According to Murphy, “nobody’s read” the new script yet and no details about the plot or cast have been made public. The original show, which follows the members of a failing school glee club in Ohio, aired on Fox from 2009 to 2015 and won 6 Emmy Awards out of 40 nominations over its six-season run. However, a number of the original cast met untimely deaths with Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera and Mark Salling all dying young. The series also featured dozens of celebrity guest stars, including Lindsay Lohan, Idina Menzel, Britney Spears, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

An Iowa judge has tossed out President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against The Des Moines Register and its former pollster over a survey that inaccurately predicted the 2024 presidential election results.

The president had accused pollster J. Ann Selzer of “brazen election interference” after she released a survey days before the election that found then-Vice President Kamala Harris leading Trump by 3 points in Iowa.

Trump went on to win the heavily Republican state by more than 13 percentage points and later argued that the poll had intentionally created a “false narrative of inevitability for Harris,” in violation of the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act’s prohibition on deceptive advertising.

A first-time climber has revealed the terrifying moment he realized he could die after plunging nearly 500 feet down Mount Shasta. Zubayir Kazi, 24, had never completed an icy summit before attempting the California mountain alone on September 10. Despite scouting part of the route five days earlier, he said conditions were “much worse than I expected.” After reaching the summit around 7:30 p.m., disaster struck on the descent. “Everything I had with me just goes out of my hand and I find myself flying down the mountain,” Kazi told NBC Bay Area. He lost his food, water, phone and light during the fall. Badly injured and alone, he knew he had to keep moving. “If I stay here and fall asleep, I’m going to die,” he said. Hours later, he crawled to base camp, where another climber found him and raised the alarm. Kazi suffered severe skin and nerve damage and internal complications, and doctors told him he could have died within hours. “When the officers came in, it was the first time I really realized how badly I was injured. They said, ‘You have no skin behind your leg,’” Kazi said.

An amateur archeologist has discovered Germany’s largest-ever hoard of ancient Roman silver coins. Oliver Reidl was searching a field in Wesseling, western Germany, with a metal detector when he realized something was buried beneath him. Researchers later recovered 934 silver denarii dating to the reign of Emperor Hadrian, nearly 2,000 years ago, between 39 B.C. and A.D. 459. They believe the coins, weighing around 6.8 pounds in total, were likely deliberately hidden during the second century A.D. “Of course, we can only speculate about the motives, but it’s very likely that someone wanted to keep this money safe,” Erich Classen, state archeologist and director of the office, told the Associated Press. “After all, banks didn’t exist back then.” Now displayed at the LVR-LandesMuseum in Bonn, the treasure has left archaeologists wondering who buried it — and why. One theory points to a Roman soldier. Legionaries earned about 300 denarii a year, with roughly half going on food and equipment. Researchers estimate the hoard represented around six years of savings.

Construction workers in Southern California have uncovered the remains of a giant mammal that roamed the region around 40 million years ago—but scientists still don’t know exactly what it was. The fossils, found about 12 feet underground at a water infrastructure project, include massive limb bones, ribs, and other fragments believed to belong to a single animal, the city of Oceanside said in a statement. Paleontologist Joseph El Adli has narrowed the possibilities to two extinct groups: a “thunder beast,” a huge hoofed mammal related to modern horses and rhinos, or a “swamp rhino,” a barrel-bodied herbivore that lived partly in water. Researchers made the discovery on August 31 during a routine excavation in the fossil-rich Santiago Formation, but the animal’s identity remains elusive without a skull. El Adli is hoping workers uncover teeth or a lower jaw—crucial clues that could solve the mystery. “It’s just sort of a hope and a prayer at this point, but that would be fantastic,” he told the L.A. An agent developed by OpenAI has breached an Australian healthcare system in what’s thought to represent the first such hack on a government site. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed the intrusion during a diplomatic visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York on Wednesday. Peter Byrne, the singer behind the iconic ’80s hit “Always Something There to Remind Me”, has died at the age of 74. The Naked Eyes vocalist died peacefully on September 14 in Los Angeles following a brief illness, the band’s manager told Billboard. His cause of death has not been made public. Byrne kicked off his career in the 1970s, working with different artists until he started Naked Eyes in 1982 with Rob Fisher. Their self-titled debut album made the Billboard Top 200, but the hit “Always Something There to Remind Me” really left a mark, reaching number 8 on the chart. He also lent his voice to the hit “Promises, Promises.” Despite their success, they split in 1984 and never toured together, TMZ reports. Fisher died in 1999, and seven years later Byrne restarted the group. Byrne is survived by his three children, Merlin, Dylan, and Chloe, and his siblings, Eileen, Sandy, Carol, and Steve.

Presley Gerber was found dead near a bed in a room at a luxury rehab facility, TMZ has reported.

The son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber was discovered on Sunday in a bedroom in the Santa Monica recovery home he had checked himself into. Sources told TMZ he wasn’t found on a bed but didn’t disclose exactly where he was.

Gerber had checked himself into Resolutions Living, a nontraditional facility, on Saturday because he had “not been doing well,” a source told Page Six. Shows scheduled for the coming days in West Springfield, Massachusetts, Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have all been canceled. The Pennsylvania and South Carolina venues blamed “circumstances beyond the control” of the venues, while the Massachusetts show was also pulled from the venue’s schedule. The cancellations come after the band postponed almost 30 summer dates in July, saying frontman Mike Love needed time to “recharge.” The tour celebrates the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds, the 1966 album that cemented the band’s place in pop history. The Beach Boys are now scheduled to resume touring on October 9 in Bloomington, Illinois, followed by Cincinnati on Oct. 10 and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 11. The latest disruption comes more than a year after Brian Wilson died at 82.

The White House is set to lose yet another top aide in the crucial run-up to the midterm elections.

Ryan Baasch, deputy director of the National Economic Council, will leave his role at the end of the month for a job in the private sector, Axios reported.

Baasch, who was previously in line for a Federal Trade Commission seat, also served as an aide to former AI and crypto czar David Sacks, as well as deputy assistant to the president for economic policy.

A legendary NBA coach has married his former assistant’s ex-wife. San Antonio Spurs president Gregg Popovich has tied the knot with Mary Barth Budenholzer, according to marriage records seen by TMZ. Popovich, 77, worked closely with Mike Budenholzer as they went on to win four NBA Championships with the Spurs. He remarried in Bexar County, Texas, on September 16, according to the documents—a decade after her divorce from Budenholzer. Mike Budenholzer worked closely with her new husband, coaching under Popovich from 1996 to 2013. He later left to coach the Atlanta Hawks and won the coach of the year award in 2015. During their time together, the two men won four of Popovich’s five NBA titles. Exactly when the new couple got together remains unknown. Popovich’s first wife, Erin, died in 2018. The Budenholzers have four children together, according to the New York Post: William Vincent, John Bent, Savoia Elizabeth, and Hanna Louise.

Controversial Theranos founder—and viral movie meme star—Elizabeth Holmes will be moved from federal prison to a residential halfway house in Texas next year.

Holmes, 42, began an 11-year sentence for fraud in May 2023. In December 2025, she formally asked President Donald Trump for early release, according to Bloomberg.

Several right-wing outlets have picked up where the others left off, including The Daily Wire and The Daily Signal.

On Wednesday, when Trump returned to the White House from rolling out the red carpet for Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, he walked up to the press pool, which no longer includes television cameras from Fox News, CNN, CBS, ABC or NBC. But as he talked about the South Lawn helipad, one of his pet projects, the feed cut out in parts, leaving him inaudible.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday for sexually assaulting his former TV production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006. The convicted sex offender begged for mercy and apologized “to anyone I have affected with my actions,” but maintained his innocence. His attorneys said he would appeal. Judge Curtis Farber said Weinstein abused his power as an influential media figure to prey on women desperate for an opportunity in the industry, treating them as “mere objects to be played with and discarded with impunity.” The sentencing follows an overturned conviction and two mistrials on the same allegation. Weinstein will next appear for resentencing in California for raping and sexually assaulting Italian model and actor Evgeniya Chernyshova in a hotel in 2013. Farber said whether Weinstein’s prison terms will run simultaneously will be up to the California judge, but said that if it were up to him, he would make Weinstein, 74, serve them consecutively—effectively putting him behind bars for the rest of his life. The disgraced Hollywood producer’s multiple accusations of sexual assault in 2017 sparked the #MeToo movement, eventually leading to his first conviction of rape in 2020.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has gained a substantial bargaining chip against Donald Trump ahead of his meetings in Washington this week.

The Chinese government has acquired sensitive F-35 stealth aircraft parts that were mysteriously diverted to Hong Kong during transport from Australia to the U.S., according to Bloomberg.

The parts in question were a cockpit canopy and a weapons-bay door, both manufactured by defense contractor Lockheed Martin, that were coated with radar-absorbing material that boosts stealth capabilities, the outlet reported.
