Tyler Boebert, 21, the eldest of the Colorado lawmaker’s four sons, is facing five felony counts in Garfield County District Court: sexual exploitation of a child, induce/entice, sexual exploitation of a child, possession with intent; sexual exploitation of a child, video; and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Muckrakers Today.

Court records show that the alleged offenses began on January 1, 2024, when Tyler was 18.

The former president appears in behind-the-scenes footage posted to HBO’s YouTube page on Monday to promote his and Michelle Obama’s TV collaboration with Larry David, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness. The footage shows the moment Obama enters a 2014 recreation of the Oval Office and notes the changes his predecessor made to the real-life version.

“Nice job on the recreation,” the president tells the show’s crew. “You even have the apples,” he says, acknowledging the fruit bowl. “It’s fantastic.”

The death toll from Colombia’s harrowing earthquake on Monday has risen to 69. The magnitude-7.4 earthquake is the strongest to hit the country in the past 10 years. Footage of the earthquake, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows buildings collapsing as people flee the scene. The epicenter was identified in San José del Palmar, about 250 miles west of the country’s capital city of Bogotá. The earthquake could be felt in parts of Panama, Venezuela, and Ecuador—all neighboring countries. There have been more than 30 reported building collapses in Manizales, a city located about 180 miles west of Bogotá, and 20 in Cali, another western city with a population of more than two million. President Abelardo de la Espriella announced the establishment of an emergency center located at the quake’s epicenter, and included a statement that read: “You are not alone. You have a President who cares deeply for his people and who will do everything necessary to protect you, support you, and move forward together in rebuilding the affected regions.”

The family of PGA Tour player Matt McQuillan has revealed the 45-year-old died on August 5 surrounded by his loved ones at Kingston General Hospital in Ontario, Canada. “Whether on the course or in everyday life, he had a remarkable ability to bring people together, offering encouragement, laughter, and genuine friendship to everyone he met. His welcoming personality and unwavering kindness made him a beloved figure within Kingston’s golfing community and beyond,” his obituary read in the Kingston Whig-Standard newspaper. An Ontario native, PGA Tour staff lauded McQuillan for “helping introduce and develop the next generation of Canadian golfers”. He turned professional in 2003 after playing college golf at Oklahoma State. McQuillan earned a PGA Tour card in 2010 and competed in 21 tournaments in 2011 and made the cut in seven of them. “Friends who shared rounds with him remember his enthusiasm, positive attitude, and appreciation for every moment spent on the course. He celebrated the successes of others as readily as his own and was always willing to encourage fellow golfers, regardless of their skill level,” his family wrote. His cause of death has not been revealed.

Taylor Farms is under fire—again. The food supplier at the center of a Cyclospora outbreak linked to its iceberg lettuce is now recalling prepared foods containing jalapeños from major retailers in several states over potential Salmonella contamination. There have already been more than 300 reported cases of illness linked to the spicy peppers. Products, including salsa and guacamole, are being pulled from shelves at Walmart, Kroger, Target, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. Taylor Farms is already facing public scrutiny over the Cyclospora outbreak, which causes explosive diarrhea and has become one of the largest foodborne illness events in recent U.S. history. “Consumers are likely to avoid all Taylor Farms products for a while,” Joe Feldman, senior managing ​director at Telsey Advisory Group, said. “Taylor Farms will have to work hard to change the perception that its products can make people sick. It could take some time.” Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. The infection can be especially dangerous for children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Taylor ranks among North America’s leading produce suppliers, providing salads and vegetables to major grocery chains and restaurant brands, including McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Chipotle.

Jurors deliberating in a monthlong federal armed robbery trial in Washington, D.C., stumbled onto a key piece of evidence that investigators, prosecutors and defense attorneys had all somehow missed.

A Chinese yuan bill tucked in one piece of clothing and a suspicious white powder folded inside a piece of paper in another were discovered during deliberations in the trial of Shamell Naquan Joyner, who was accused of robbing a string of 7-Elevens and gas stations, and stealing cars, in the spring of 2023.

It took the jurors themselves to uncover the evidence in the pocket of the defendant’s jacket.

A tourist got a brutal reminder that some wildlife encounters are better enjoyed from a distance. The man had ventured to within about 20 feet of a European bison in Poland’s Białowieża Forest when it suddenly charged, according to local reports and footage of the encounter. The bison then stood over him, swiping at him whenever he tried to rise. Nature photographer Grzegorz Ryński, who filmed the encounter, shouted at the tourist to stay down before slowly driving his car toward the bison. He kept a door open so the man could climb inside, according to the reports. But the tourist appeared to be in shock and tried to escape on foot. Ryński then slowly reversed alongside him, using the vehicle to keep the bison at bay until they were far enough away. The man was left with a deep gash on his calf and heavy bruising and was taken to a hospital, according to Ryński’s wife. Ryński said the tourist was fortunate that this particular bison was relatively calm. It comes after a similar attack at Yellowstone National Park, when a tourist was launched eight feet into the air.

A soccer star’s goal celebration went horribly wrong as he accidentally jumped down a hole. On Sunday, Jacy Maranhão, a defender for Coritiba in Brazil’s top league, barreled towards the advertising barriers after scoring against Chapecoense, sending the crowd into raptures. Those cheers quickly turned to screams as he leaped over the perimeter and down into a subterranean set of stairs that leads to the visiting team’s locker room. It got worse for the 29-year-old, as the referee ruled out the goal for a foul after he emerged from the hole. He also had to go off injured, compounding a miserable night for the player. “I twisted my foot. It’s a bit sore, but I’m fine,” Maranhão, who was picked up by TV cameras icing his ankle, said. “Center-backs hardly ever score goals. I just got carried away.” The bizarre incident took place at the Coritiba stadium, the Estádio Couto Pereira, where, in 2014, the same thing happened. Diederrick Joel Tagueu, a former striker for the team, was also injured when falling down the very same hole while celebrating a winning goal. At least his strike counted.

Divers off the coast of Italy have discovered a 2,100-year-old shipwreck containing more than 500 narrow-necked jars called amphorae. The 70-foot wreck was located 151ft underwater three miles off Mazara del Vallo in Sicily, Italy, by divers Giacomo De Mola and Igor Bisulli following a tip-off from some fishermen. The discovery has been hailed by Italy’s culture minister, Alessandro Giuli, as “one of the most important underwater archaeological discoveries of recent years” that offers “precious fragments of our history.” “Visibility wasn’t the best… I got closer. And my heart stopped. Below me was a vast expanse of amphorae,” De Mola said in a post on social media. “This is, without a doubt, the most incredible discovery of my life,” he added. “It’s hard to describe what it feels like to be among the first humans, in nearly 20 centuries, to see that place again.” Amphorae were used to store and transport various goods, especially wine, and archaeologists believe their discovery will inform them about transit routes and global commerce at the time. Experts will conduct further research on the site, including getting a more specific date, where the ship came from, and where it was headed.

Harry Potter fans have successfully pushed a $580 million power project to change course after discovering that an underground cable could pass through the spot where Dobby, the fictional house elf, was buried in the film series.

Dobby was killed and laid to rest on Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The location has since become an unofficial memorial for fans, who regularly leave stones inscribed with messages such as “Here lies Dobby” despite the fact that the National Trust, which owns the land, discourages the practice because the beach is an ecologically sensitive area. They also used to leave socks, because Potter uses a sock to trick Lucius Malfoy into giving Dobby his freedom.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s pick to run Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown on the ground has sparked a firestorm among MAGA ranks.

Mullin, 49, took over the department after President Donald Trump, 80, fired Kristi Noem earlier this year. The former Oklahoma senator has since been dogged by immigration hardliners who see him as weak on enforcement. Some want him gone altogether.

Senate Republicans are panicking that Donald Trump will spend the rest of the summer publicly hammering them over a voting bill they have little to no chance of passing.

The SAVE America Act, which the 80-year-old president has ranked above everything else on his agenda, would force Americans to produce citizenship paperwork when they register and show photo ID at the polls.

Trump has repeatedly claimed the act is essential because millions of noncitizens keep participating in elections to stop him from winning them. Deputies arrested a man Sunday at Kim Kardashian’s estate in Los Angeles’ exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood after he allegedly looted the house and drove off in a car parked outside. Kardashian, 45, moved out with her kids during a remodel of the gated-community mansion she bought in 2014. Her cars stayed behind. Police responded to a call from the premises just before 4 p.m. after a guard spotted the intruder loading a car and alerted the sheriff’s office. Accounts differ on whose car it was. The Los Angeles Times, citing a source in law enforcement, said the vehicle was Kardashian’s. TMZ, citing its own sources, said it belonged to a staffer and was driven around the gated enclave. The 27-year-old suspect has not been identified and was booked for suspected burglary. No one was hurt, and no weapons were found on the man. Harp was spotted in the background of a shot uploaded to social media by Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, the second son of the president and his first wife, Ivana. The smiling blonde is situated right behind Trump, clutching two cellphones and various documents.

Police in Australia were forced to admit they mistook a gruesomely lifelike doll for a dead woman and started to investigate a possible murder. New South Wales Police issued a statement on Sunday saying that they had been called over reports that a “body had been located” stuffed inside a suitcase found by a dirt road in Oallen. But Superintendent Linda Bradbury confirmed on Monday that the body was, in fact, a doll figure that had clothing, hair, a nose piercing, and markings that resembled “bruises and grazes.” The original suspicious death investigation was then closed. Bradbury explained that because it is good practice not to disturb a crime scene, officers did not immediately realize the body was not human. The investigation was also hindered by bad weather. “We don’t like to disturb them too much in situ, particularly when we have faced inclement weather,” she said. Bradbury assured during a press conference that the doll was “very realistic in terms of looking like human remains.” Bradbury had even previously told a local news station that what police believed was a human body was found in a “state of decomposition”.

Donald Trump has privately admitted that he may be forced to end his war on Iran without achieving his main objective, according to a bombshell report.

The conflict began on Feb. 28 when Trump joined Israel in launching massive air strikes that decapitated the leadership of the Islamic regime. The president cycled through several rationales for the war before hitting on keeping Tehran from building a nuclear bomb—and has stuck to that line in the five months since.

His administration has repeatedly tried to fold the nuclear question into a wider settlement with Tehran. But The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that Trump now privately concedes, in meetings with senior aides, that those demands are unachievable and is now just focused on getting ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz again.

David Sackeroff, an Emmy-nominated production designer and art director, has died at the age of 81. A resident of Bainbridge, Washington, Sackeroff died on July 10, with a Facebook tribute from his sister Mae noting that “only a few knew of his passing.” Sackeroff was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1991 for Outstanding Art Direction for the TV series Carol & Company. He worked on five early episodes of Seinfeld between 1989 and 1990, including its pilot episode. He also worked on 20 episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 72 episodes of Two Guys and a Girl, 73 episodes of Alf, and 203 episodes of Home Improvement. Variety reports that a childhood love of constructing puppet theaters led Sackeroff to work in theater production, before a career in TV comedies and sitcoms. Sackeroff’s sister said that he “communicated amazingly well with dogs who shared his life for over half a century.”

Tedde Moore, the actress best known for playing Ralphie Parker’s teacher in the classic A Christmas Story, has died at the age of 79. The Canadian’s Aug. 5 death was confirmed in a statement posted on her Facebook page, but no cause of death was given. The post said Moore died “surrounded by family physically and spiritually” in Huntsville, Canada. “Forever the teacher, she had a quote for every occasion and a special way of touching the lives and hearts of everyone she met,” it added. She had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009. Moore appeared in the 1983 Christmas film alongside Peter Billingsley. Her performance is best remembered for her giving Ralphie a bad grade on his paper about wanting the Red Ryder BB gun, as well as helping another character, Flick, after he gets his tongue stuck on an ice-cold flagpole. Moore’s other credits include appearances in television shows such as Friday the 13th: The Series, RoboCop: Prime Directives, and playing Nanny Shaw in the 2011 miniseries The Kennedys. She also appeared in more than two dozen movies, with her last being 2017’s High-Rise Rescue.

A Seattle-bound commercial flight was abruptly halted on the tarmac and forced into an emergency cockpit lockdown after a passenger allegedly threatened to hijack the jet. The alarming situation unfolded on Alaska Airlines Flight 305 as the Boeing 737 taxied for departure at Miami International Airport. In dramatic air traffic control audio, the pilot alerted controllers to escalating cabin chaos. “Ramp, Alaska 305, we have set the parking brake, and we have a customer disturbance onboard right now, with threats coming from customers,” the pilot said. “We want to go into a lockdown protocol. We are shutting down the engine and parking brake set”. The pilot soon relayed an even more alarming update. “The flight attendants have received threats from customers onboard the aircraft,” he explained. “The last thing we heard from the flight attendant is that we had a customer threaten to take the aircraft over”. Asked if law enforcement was needed, he replied, “Absolutely.” Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office rushed to the gate and deplaned all passengers. Investigators ultimately determined there was “no credible threat”. The two unruly travelers were removed and temporarily banned, while remaining passengers reboarded and completed their trip to Seattle.

The Dukes of Hazzard star Ben Jones has died at the age of 84. Known for his portrayal of mechanic Cooter Davenport and for serving two terms as a U.S. congressman, he died at his home in Washington, Virginia, from a heart attack, according to his wife Alma Viator. His road to stardom came after a challenging period that saw him battle alcoholism, arrests, and three divorces, the New York Times reports. As “Crazy Cooter,” he was tasked with repairing the 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee for the show’s main stars, Bo Duke (John Schneider) and Luke Duke (Tom Wopat). A star of the CBS hit from 1979 to 1985, he was urged to go into politics by the Democratic Party after its cancellation, and was elected to Georgia’s 4th Congressional District at the second time of asking in 1988. It saw him exact revenge on Republican Pat Swindall in a bruising election that Dan Rather of CBS News called “by far the meanest and nastiest race in America.” He would later go on to start Cooter’s Garage Band and open Cooter’s Place, a museum-cum-cafe themed on The Dukes of Hazzard in Virginia that he expanded to a second premises in the state and another in Tennessee.

A record-breaking Yosemite speed climber has died in an accident in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Jake Whisenant, 30, of Mammoth Lakes, died Aug. 3, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Coroner said, as the New York Post reported. Authorities have not said how the accident happened. Longtime friend Bailee Moore confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, “It is with an impossibly heavy heart that I share the passing of my lifelong friend and confidant — Jacob Daniel Whisenant.” Whisenant made his name in October 2024 when he and fellow climber Brant Hysell raced up El Capitan’s Lurking Fear route in 2 hours, 55 minutes and 32 seconds, a new record. In May, he and Noah Fox scaled the granite giant’s famed Nose route twice in a single day, taking 14 hours and 38 minutes. Moore wrote, “I will look for you in every life, my brother. Now go rest high up on that mountain.”

Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg has come under fire after his superyacht did not come to the assistance of another ship that was stranded in Alaskan waters. The Facebook owner’s $300 million Launchpad did not act after a small cruise ship put out a call for help after it ran out of fuel between Petersburg and Juneau. Instead, a smaller ship, Wilderness Legacy, sailed past Zuckerberg’s boat to help the stranded cruise liner. In an announcement to passengers, the cruise ship’s captain made a point to mention that Zuckerberg’s superyacht had been closer, but it did not answer the radio call for help. One passenger posted on social media that this announcement prompted “near unanimous booing” from the other passengers. In a statement, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg said that the tech billionaire and his family were not aboard the ship at the time, and that the Coast Guard reported the cruise ship as not in distress. “By the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they were operating on, the assist was already underway,” the statement added. “We’re grateful all parties are safe.”

A flight that had already left the gate was canceled after a child refused to sit down and buckle their seatbelt before takeoff. The Porter Airlines flight from Victoria International Airport in British Columbia to Toronto on Thursday was headed for the runway when crew members noticed “a young child was standing in their seat and would not secure their seatbelt,” a Porter Airlines spokesperson told People. “Attempts by the accompanying parent and crew to address this were unsuccessful,” the spokesperson said, adding that the flight’s crew decided to return to the terminal and remove the misbehaving passengers from the aircraft. But the time required to “bridge the aircraft, deplane the passengers in question, retrieve their baggage, refile flight plans and other paperwork meant that it was too late to depart” because the airport’s runway closes at 12:30 a.m., the airline said. The plane had 132 seats, according to The New York Times, though it’s unclear how many passengers were on board. The airline apologized “for the effect this had on other passengers” and said the other passengers departed on a flight the next day. Porter Airlines did not immediately respond to the Daily Beast’s request for comment.

A glass bottle of Guinness dating back to the Mindoro shipwreck of 1864 has been found off the coast of Dover, South-East United Kingdom. Diver Stefan Panis discovered the bottle while accompanied by friend Eddie Huzzey, and didn’t immediately recognize the object while underwater. “We lifted the artefact, and then on the surface a quick rinse revealed ‘Guinness,’” he said. According to Panis, the bottle may not have been alone. “Seeing the size of the case, I think it is definitely a case of 24 bottles. But there might be more cases,” he said. Samples from the bottle have been sent to KU Leuven University in Belgium, with hopes that the 19th-century recipe could be recreated. Panis shared: “There is always a chance that we can recover the complete DNA, and then we can do a small re-brew of the exact beer that was found in the 1860s.” Or, if that doesn’t work out, they may crack open the bottle itself. “There is a possibility that it’s still drinkable. The question is if the sea water has come into the bottles through the corks.”

A letter written by villagers from an Albanian peninsula where Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner plan to build a luxury resort has undermined their assertion that they were unaware of claims the land was stolen.

Nearly two years ago, villagers in Zvërnec wrote a letter to Jared Kushner’s firm pleading with the president’s son-in-law not to develop a $1.4 billion resort on the allegedly stolen land. The villagers informed the firm that they were involved in decades-long court disputes over the property, which was allegedly stolen by Artur Shehu, a suspected gangster accused of forging Ottoman-era land records, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The site, the villagers alleged, is “owned by the village and its residents.”

A 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old girl died after a speedboat capsized in New York Harbor Saturday, authorities say. The 22-foot Bayliner flipped over near Liberty Island around 10:25 p.m., officials said. Twelve other people were rescued from the water, while the two victims were taken to NYU Langone Hospital in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead. Their identities have not been released. The captain of the boat, Manuel Hernandez, 46, of New York, was arrested and charged with 13 counts of reckless endangerment. “On Saturday, August 8, 2026, at approximately 2225 hours, police received a 911 call reporting an overturned vessel in the vicinity of Liberty Island, within the confines of the 1st Precinct,” the NYPD said. “The NYPD’s Harbor Unit, SCUBA Team and Aviation responded to the scene.” The Coast Guard said investigators are examining whether the trip was functioning as an illegal charter.

Morrissey has canceled an upcoming Las Vegas concert run just months after he reported that a lack of sleep made him “catatonic.” The 67-year-old former frontman for The Smiths scrapped a concert in Spain in March after saying he was suffering from severe “sleep deprivation.” The “Suedehead” singer explained that he had been unable to sleep the night before the Madrid performance because of noisy construction near his hotel. “An 8 a.m. drill is a drill too far,” he noted at the time, claiming the racket left him in a “catatonic state.” The singer didn’t offer details about the new cancellation. This time, Vegas ticket holders were informed Friday via email that Morrissey’s four-concert run at the Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater, which was scheduled to kick off on Aug. 14, was being canceled due to “unforeseen logistical challenges.” “Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert has been canceled,” the email read, according to Rolling Stone, which labeled the singer a “notorious concert canceler.” Morrissey’s website has not yet acknowledged the canceled shows, but Wynn has removed the shows from its listings, and Ticketmaster notes: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

Highlander star and one-time Tarzan Christopher Lambert was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after suffering a medical emergency at a fan convention on Saturday. The French-American actor, producer, and writer, 69, was signing autographs at Steel City Con in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when he collapsed, TMZ reported. His crew later reported he was “totally OK” and back in his hotel room resting. A spokesperson said the collapse was apparently triggered by low blood sugar, due to not having eaten much since arriving in Pittsburgh and not sleeping enough the night before. The family of actor Robert Carradine has sued the University of California, alleging failures at a UCLA psychiatric facility contributed to the actor’s death earlier this year. The wrongful death and elder abuse lawsuit, filed Friday, claims Carradine entered UCLA’s locked psychiatric unit seeking treatment for severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts but was allowed to keep a belt despite hospital policy listing belts as contraband. “Robert’s hopes for successful treatment didn’t match the reality he had stepped into,” the lawsuit states, according to TheWrap. His family alleges staff also left a rolling bedside table in his room and failed to conduct required checks every 15 minutes. Carradine attempted suicide 19 hours after being admitted, according to the filing. The actor suffered an anoxic brain injury and remained in intensive care for five weeks before dying on Feb. 23 at age 71. “None of this happened because UCLA lacked the knowledge, the policies or the means,” the lawsuit states. “It happened because UCLA took shortcuts.” His family said after his death that he had battled bipolar disorder for nearly two decades. Carradine is best known for his role as Lewis Skolnick in Revenge of the Nerds and Sam McGuire on Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire. He is survived by his three children, Ever, Marika, and Ian.

Cornell University has banned the butchering of wild game on campus after two students decided to carve up a bear in a dorm kitchen. Back in 2025, Aaron Chin and an unnamed Ivy League pal transported the body of a dead wild bear to the campus’ Ganędagǫ Hall, before butchering the carcass on site. Now, undergrad student policy stresses: “Processing wild/game animals in community kitchens is strictly prohibited.” Cornell has confirmed that the bizarre new rule came as a direct response to the previous incident. Prior to the policy addition, Chin explained that he and his friend knew they were within their rights to drag the bear carcass back to the dorm after an off-site option fell through. “We were really diligent in reading all of the rules and regulations. We made sure we did everything by the book because we knew we were going to be under scrutiny,” he told the MeatEater podcast a few months after going viral for his shocking kitchen takeover.

Military families confronted Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao over conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and the lack of a clear date for its crew to return home.
