Kate Middleton’s New Eyeliner Look Gives Her an Instant Lift
The Princess of Wales departed from her signature natural makeup in favor of a bolder beauty choice.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, debuted a subtle makeup transformation while attending a church service at Crathie Kirk on Aug. 23.
Kate Middleton, 44, has been staying at Balmoral, the family’s annual summer retreat, since Aug. 20. She is joined by her husband, Prince William, 44, and their children: George, 13; Charlotte, 11; and Louis, 8.

Normally, the Princess of Wales, who does her own day-to-day makeup, keeps her look natural: radiant skin, delicately sculpted cheeks, defined arched brows, and a soft smoky eyeliner on both the top and bottom lash lines.

On Sunday, she strayed from her usual look, opting for darker charcoal eyeshadow and jet-black winged eyeliner. While she kept her complexion makeup minimal, Middleton appears to have added an undereye brightener to elongate her eyes and give them a lifted, more youthful appearance.
But on Sunday, Kate Middleton debuted a smokier, more lifted makeup look.

The Princess of Wales wore a high-neck blouse by Jade Holland Cooper and layered it with a Ralph Lauren tweed blazer. She accessorized with a pair of stone chandelier earrings from Lauren by Ralph Lauren and appears to have traded her signature brunette hair for a lighter, sandy blond color.
According to Tatler, this is the first time she has worn the earrings in public.

As is customary for the princess, she took a hat from her extensive collection, this time opting for a chocolate brown pillbox design.

The British royal family has spent their summer holidays at Balmoral Castle since 1852, when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert purchased the Scottish estate.
Since then, generations of monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III, have used the Highlands property as their traditional late-summer private retreat.
Princess Kate wore the diamond earrings, gifted by her parents, at her wedding to Prince William in April, 2011.

Scotland is particularly special to the Waleses, as William and Kate met while attending the University of St. Andrews.
