Anne Hathaway, 43, received a barrage of accusations that she wore a fake pregnancy belly after she showed off her stomach in a crop top.

On Sunday, Hathaway attended the world premiere of her new movie, The End of Oak Street, at the Steven J. Ross Theater in Burbank, California.

Hathaway, who revealed in June that she was expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, wore a custom look on the red carpet by Atelier Prabal Gurung, consisting of a belly-baring halterneck top and low-rise jeans.

After an account titled “21” posted photos of the Oscar winner on X, many commenters thought there was something “off” with Hathaway’s stomach.

“Looks like a fake stomach. The belly button looks unreal,” one person wrote under the post.

Another agreed, “As someone who has kids, her belly looks like those fake ones they use in movies.”

One X post was filled with comments claiming that Hathaway’s stomach was a silicone prosthetic.

“That isn’t a REAL belly bump,” a third one echoed. A fourth commenter added, “Looks like a prosthetic bump.”

Hathaway shut down the rumors on her Instagram account on Monday, when she posted a video from the evening, and titled it, “Fake hair, real bump.”

Some commenters who never suspected that Hathaway was accessorizing with a prosthetic belly blamed Hathaway’s trusted stylist Erin Walsh for dressing the star in a look that was “unflattering.”

One popular comment with over 5,000 likes read, “Pregnancy is beautiful, but this is a stylist fail.”

Some commenters blamed Anne Hathaway’s stylist for making her proportions look different.

“The bump itself is fine, but the jeans being pulled that low makes the whole silhouette look a bit strange,” another agreed.

To many commenters, the conversation around Hathaway’s stomach was simply uninformed body shaming.

“Pregnancy bumps aren’t supposed to look identical,” one fan wrote. “She looks amazing, so I really don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of it.”

Another agreed: “I don’t see the issue at all. Every girl carries her baby bump differently, but damn, she looks straight up stunning pregnant, y’all are so weird about it.”

Commenters supported Hathaway, reminding others that every pregnancy looks different.

“The fact that people think they can judge a pregnancy by how the bump looks is genuinely insane... Women aren’t supposed to carry the exact same way, and the internet needs to get over it,” one commenter summed up.

In July, Hathaway said that she and her husband of almost 14 years were “shocked” by the pregnancy. The couple has two sons: Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.

“We knew what we were doing, but we were so shocked it worked,” Hathaway said on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “We were so shocked it went this way, so we’re calling this one our buzzer-beater.”
