After Seeing His Wife’s Facelift Results, He Decided to Get One Too

When the 61-year-old husband saw his results, he was beyond happy that he followed his wife’s lead.

When Doreen Mancini, 59, noticed that her photographs did not reflect how she felt on the inside, she set her sights on plastic surgery as a solution.

A scroll on social media led Doreen, a skincare sales representative from Miami, to board-certified plastic surgeon Paul Afrooz. For extra support during the consultation, she brought her husband, engineer Anthony Mancini, to the appointment.

After an in-depth conversation with Dr. Afrooz, Doreen chose to undergo an extensive surgery that included a deep-plane facelift, a deep-plane neck lift, a temporal brow lift, fat transfer around her eyes and mouth, and Erbium laser resurfacing under her eyes.

The plan was to have Mancini, 61, by her side as she recovered from the procedures. But as Doreen healed from surgery, her progress gradually piqued Anthony’s interest.

“He noticed the amazing improvement and how much more youthful I looked without looking overdone or like I had surgery at all,” Doreen told The Looker. “This made him take a good look at himself, and he realized it was time for him as well.”

This is not a rare occurrence, Dr. Afrooz told The Looker.

When couples come in together, the men are typically more skeptical of the procedures initially.

“A lot of men are worried that somehow they’re going to lose character in their face, or have awkwardness to the way that they look, or potentially look surgical and not like themselves anymore,” he explained.

But when wives undergo plastic surgery, their husbands often grow curious, particularly when the results are so impressive.

Dr. Afrooz reports welcoming a husband-and-wife pair of patients every few months.

“It’s way more common than you might think,” he told The Looker.

Four months after Doreen underwent her transformative procedure, her appearance was more rested, lifted, and plump—and Anthony was ready for his.

Although couples sometimes want to undergo surgery on the same day, Dr. Afrooz will not make that a reality.

“I never do more than one facelift in a day, I really am very steadfast about that,” he said. “It’s a person’s face. It is their window to the world, and it’s something that needs to be done with enormous amounts of meticulous attention to detail.”

Still, the surgeon emphasized the importance of following the proper procedure to ensure optimal results.

“I’m trying to do this in the absolute most elite way possible,” he said. “Quality suffers if you try to do more than one in a day. That’s my opinion.”

Taking time between surgeries is also helpful for couples who want to care for each other during the healing process.

When that is the case, Dr. Afrooz recommends at least a week between the operations.

For Anthony, his neck was his biggest concern—a typical insecurity among many male patients, Dr. Afrooz said.

“In men, it’s really the jawline and the neck that make us look our best, vibrant and energetic,” he explained.

When Anthony saw his results, he was beyond happy.

He described his recovery as “more discomfort than pain” and thanked Dr. Afrooz for being “a perfectionist.”

A few months after his surgery, he still has some residual swelling, but the results are clear.

Anthony looks noticeably younger while still looking just like himself.

“We both were looking for a more natural, youthful version of ourselves, without looking like we had plastic surgery, and this was exactly the result we achieved,” Doreen shared.

She added, “We both get compliments all the time, but no one can pinpoint exactly what we’ve done.”
